Ridge Flatweave Rug
The Ridge rug explores architectural rhythm and tactile structure. Defined by a fine-ribbed field and a clean contrast border, it brings a grounded, composed element to the architecture of a room.
Woven to commission, the piece is crafted using a specific flatweave technique with a blend of 50% New Zealand wool and 50% jute. The natural yarn is tightly interwoven across the warp and weft without a pile, creating a firm, reversible foundation. The raw strength of the jute provides structural durability, while the New Zealand wool softens the ribbed profile and adds a matte depth to the varied tones.
From the careful selection of raw fibre to the final tensioning of the weave, the work demands patience. Months in the making, with no shortcuts taken, this piece provides a settled, resilient foundation that wears well through decades of daily use.
