Profile Hand-Tufted Rug
The Profile rug is a study in form and quiet interaction. Defined by abstract, figurative shapes that rest against one another, it brings a grounded, human element to the architecture of a room.
The story of the piece begins in Uttar Pradesh, where it is hand-tufted to commission. The foundation is built from 80% New Zealand wool, chosen for its dense, matte weight and structural resilience. Woven alongside it is 20% bamboo silk, placed by hand to trace the figurative forms. As the light in a room shifts throughout the day, the bamboo silk catches the natural light, creating a subtle contrast against the heavy wool.
From the careful selection of raw fibre to the final hand-shearing of the pile, the work demands patience. Months in the making, with no shortcuts, this piece is built over time to settle quietly into a space and wear well through the years that follow.
